Agreement for the implementation of augmented (audio) reality at the Archeological Site of Dodona

On Tuesday, December 11, 2018, the Board of Directors of Diazoma unanimously agreed to award the project “Audio Τour in Ancient Dodona” to the composer and new media researcher Mr. Thanos Polymeneas-Liontiris.

Within the framework of supporting the “Ancient Theatres of Epirus Cultural Route” Program and continuing the innovative applications implemented at the Archaeological Site of Dodona (see application of Mind the Map tactile maps), DIAZOMA has commissioned Mr Thanos Polymeneas-Liontiris with the design and implementation of a digital audio tour application aimed to showcase the soundscape of the archaeological site of Dodona.

The application will provide an “audio-centric” experience with both educational and entertainment characteristics. Visitors to the archaeological site will be able to download the digital audio file and, using earphones, listen to the specially adapted historical re-enaction soundscapes and the accompanying narration whilst autonomously touring the site. This experience is comparable to a kind of site-specific radio play narrative and is, in essence, an augmented (audio) reality experience within the archaeological site itself.

The aforementioned application shall be completed within the space of five (5) months and the cost of the project awarded is set at 3,000.00 euro (VAT excluded). Payment shall be made upon completion and delivery of the project.

DIAZOMA welcomes this collaboration, as this innovative proposal of an “experiential” tour contributes to the upgrading of available tour services and the shaping of an exemplary public digital infrastructure at an archaeological site of fundamental importance along the Cultural Route of Epirus.
