Cultural Route Along the Olympia Odos Motorway (Olympia Route)

Ancient cities, medieval castles, wetlands, prehistoric palaces, and Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games. The Olympia Odos Cultural Route does not merely pass through monuments, cities, and villages. It highlights, protects, and manages one of the richest areas of Greece, culturally and environmentally.

Description

DIAZOMA proposes the design of the Olympia Odos Cultural Route as a branded and holistic cultural tourism product that will focus on the archaeological sites located along the Olympia Odos Motorway. This proposal aims to utilize the Olympia Odos as a springboard for the Peloponnese’s tourist and economic reconstruction, through the protection, promotion and management of the significant environmental and cultural monuments found along the entire length of the Olympia Odos Motorway and beyond, as far as the region of Pylos.

Poles of Attraction

The Cultural Route will comprise the following eight poles of attraction: Eleusis, Corinth—Sicyon, Aigio, Kalavryta, Patras, Olympia, Kaiafas, Pylos.

Budget

The budget will be set upon approval of the programme.
