New friends for the Cultural Route of Epirus

Following an invitation from the association DIAZOMA, members of Argo, the Hellenic Network in Brussels and members of Kyklos, the Cultural Association of Greek expats in Brussels participated in a working visit to Epirus from 20 to 22 July 2018. The purpose of the visit was the presentation of “The cultural Route of the Ancient Theaters of Epirus” to our compatriots as well as their participation in the implementation of this development program.

During the visit, participants had the opportunity to visit the four regions crossed by the route and to visit the five main archaeological sites: Dodona, Nikopolis, Kassopi, Ambracia and Gitana, milestones of a 344-kilometer itinerary covering 2300 years of history. The protagonists of the project (representatives of institutions, archaeologists, restorers, business leaders, etc.) informed them about the archaeological and environmental wealth of Epirus and about the four stages of the project. At the end of the visit, members of both associations expressed their keen interest in the project and their desire to contribute actively to its implementation and to inform their contacts in organs of the European institutions.

The visit to Epirus of the two associations was therefore successful and “the cultural route of the ancient theaters of Epirus” (whose launch event will take place on November 3, 2018) now has very influential friends and allies at the heart of the institutions in Brussels.
