DIAZOMA Association 15th General Assembly in Kalamata and the Archaeological Site of Ancient Messene Successfully Completed
The 11th General Assembly of DIAZOMA with the theme “The trilogy of Athens: Eleusis – Athens – Lavrion” took place in the technological cultural park of Lavrio, Attiki on September 22nd and 23rd.
DIAZOMA’s commitment to the development of the Athens trilogy project was reaffirmed. The association will continue consultations with all relevant bodies (state, region, municipalities, private sector) for the implementation of the above project.
This year’s general meeting was a symbolic and festive one as our association celebrated its 10th anniversary. The president of the association as well as the members of the board of directors took stock of these 10 years by recalling its important milestones and the projects realized during this period.
In addition, the amendment of articles 3 and 4 of the association’s by-laws aiming at harmonizing them with the new objectives of the association and the European Union acquis was voted unanimously. Articles 3 and 4 were supplemented with the philosophy of integrated management of monuments and new programs, such as cultural and natural routes and archaeological parks, and the concept of promotion of the “common good” as an integral part of our association’s identity.
In accordance with the 2016 amendment to the by-laws, the electorate of DIAZOMA elected two new board members, bringing the number of board members from seven to nine.
Finally, as part of our general assembly, members and friends of our association visited the ancient Souriza ore enrichment site and the ancient theatre of Thorikos, were toured around the facilities of the Technological Cultural Park of Lavrion and enjoyed a concert at the amphitheater of the park given by talented musicians.
We would like to warmly thank all those who contributed to the success of this year’s General Assembly: the Ephorate of Antiquities of East Attica and archaeologists Maria Stathi and Elpida Skerlou, the Municipality of Lavrion, the members of the National Technical University of Athens, the Technological Cultural Park of Lavrion and its director Mr. Asimakis Chadoumellis, the association “DIANTHOS” and our sponsors VIKOS SA, Athinaiki Zythopoia (Athenian Brewery), APIVITA and Oenomessiniaki. But first of all, we would like to thank our corporate and regular members for their massive participation.
