On Monday, September 28, 2015, the General Assembly of the “DIAZOMA” Association in Central Greece successfully completed its work. More than 400 people, members of “DIAZOMA”, as well as representatives of the local community, observed the General Assembly with great mysticism and shared great moments.

  • On Friday, the members of “DIAZOMA” visited two unique ancient theaters, the one of Eretria and Kavireiou of Thebes. At the Kavireiou Theater, they enjoyed the reciting of Pindarou from the actor Lambro Tsaga and the actress, Danae Kalahouta, as well as a short recital by saxophonist Mr. Theodoros Kerkezos.
  • On Saturday morning, members of “DIAZOMA”, under the rain, visited Orchomenos of Boeotia, and in particular, three of its top monuments: the theater, the arched tomb of Miniou and Panagia Scripus. They then visited the carved-rock theater of Chaeroneas.
  • On all tours, the supervisors, as well as the archaeologists of the local antiquities missions, guided the members of “DIAZOMA”: Mrs. Paraskevi Kalamara, Director of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Evia, Konstantinos Boukaras, Archaeologist of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Evia, Alexandra Charami, Director of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Boeotia, Olga Kyriazi, Nikos Kontogiannis and Yannis Fappas, archaeologists of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Boeotia, the Director of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Fthiotida and Evritania Mrs. Mania Papakonstantinou.
  • The local community, the municipal authorities and the cultural clubs of each region with their volunteers participated with joy.
    On Saturday afternoon the work was continued at the Cultural Center of Orchomenos Boeotia, where the studies of the archaeological park of Orchomenos Boeotia were commissioned by the study company “Plias SA”. Mr. Evdokimos Fregoglou, responsible for multimedia applications of “DIAZOMA” presented and made visual to the audience using a three-dimensional video the topic of the study. The archaeologists of the Ephorate, Mrs. Olga Kyriazis, Dimitra Economou and Kiki Kalliga presented respectively the ancient theaters of Orchomenos, Askris and Tanagra.
  • The work peaked on Saturday night at the ancient theater of Orchomenos, where the ceremony of the General Assembly took place, with the quorum being established and the election of a bureau. This magical night ended with a musical addition from the guitarist, Ms. Eva Fampa.
  • The focal point of this year’s General Assembly was the “Digital Culture Strategy” and the contribution of digital technology to the promotion and restoration of the monuments. The above mentioned subject was shed light upon by the members and associates of the “DIAZOMA” association, Mr. Lambrinoudakis Vasilis and Petros Themelis, professors of archeology, on “Digital diary excavation”, Konstantinos Boletis, PhD. Architectural – Engineer, restorer at the theater of Dionysus of Athens, Kostas Konstantinidis, “Digital technologies for culture”, Grigoris Tsokas, Professor of Applied Geophysics Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, “Geophysical Research”, Nikos Lianos, architect, Associate Professor, Dimokritio University of Thrace, “3D Scanning – Theaters of Gitanon and Avdiron”, Katsoudas Petros, civil engineer- member of the scientific team for the restoration of the ancient theater of Dodoni, Prodromos Tsiavos, legal, “Open Data “.
  • The Cultural Route in Central Greece was presented by Mr. Panayiotis Daiis, executive of the public administration, Panagiotis Vlachos, lawyer and Dr. Takis Mastrandonis, Chemist – engineer and advisor to the Ministry of Culture. Dr. Kostas Nedas, landscape engineer, audio-visualized the journey with a wonderful video.
  • On Sunday, Mr. Kostas Bakoyannis, Regional Governor of Central Greece and the Curator of Antiquities of Fthiotida and Evritania, Mrs. Mania Papakonstantinou, attended the General Assembly.
  • On Sunday afternoon, the members of “DIAZOMA” visited the Castle of Lamia, where a documentary by Mr. Babis Tsokas was presented concerning Charalambos Bouras, professor of architecture at the National Technical University of Athens and chairman of the Acropolis Monument Conservation Committee. The documentary was titled: “Charalambos Bouras: The Man, The Scientist, The Teacher” and it was held to honor Charalambos Bouras for his great contribution to architecture, restoration of monuments and archeology.
  • The proceedings of the meeting were completed on Monday with a trek into the beautiful nature of Evritania, where the members of “DIAZOMA” visited Megalo Chorio, Koryschades and Kefalovrysos.
