The Great Petros Themelis and the Wonder of Ancient Messene
On Friday, November 7, 2014 the President of “DIAZOMA” Stavros Benos met with Mr. Stefaan Poortman, Senior Director of International Development & Partnerships in the Global Heritage Fund, http://www.globalheritagefund.org.
It is worth noting that the meeting was an initiative of mr. Paul Geroulanos, former Minister of Culture and long-standing friend and supporter of “DIAZOMA”.
This meeting was extremely important, as it highlighted the convergence of objectives and fields of activity between the two bodies, the Global Heritage Fund and DIAZOMA.
Possible areas of future cooperation between the two organizations were also discussed. Mr. Benos informed Mr. Poortman about two projects which are currently being planned and implemented by DIAZOMA, i.e:
– the Program of Cultural Itinerary in ancient theaters of Epirus
– the integrated program for the enhancement of the Sanctuary of Asclepius at Epidaurus – a global journey from ancient to modern medicine.
Mr Benos firmly believes that the Global Heritage Fund can have a significant contribution in expertise and technology transfer, as well as the funding of present and future DIAZOMA projects.
