  • Mrs Toula Andriopoulos. Benefactor member, for her exceptional contribution to the cause of DIAZOMA.

The General Assembly of Diazoma Association is the annual general meeting for the Diazoma Association’s members. This annual festival of activities  lasts two to four days, in September, and is organized in different parts of Greece. During these days, over 600 members and guests meet, most frequently in ancient theaters. These assemblies consist of lectures and progress reports of Diazoma’s activities as well as plans for the future. Often, the meetings last until nightfall and finish by moonlight.

Short and informative speeches are given by variety of knowledgeable participants, ranging from local authority officials, archeologists, architects, to business people, technology experts, and anyone interested in contributing to the objectives of Greek Cultural Heritage associated with DIAZOMA. But, with a nod to nurturing the well-being of the attendees’ soul (the Greek concept of psychagogia), there are also a series of brief cultural performances by artists, actors, dancers, and musicians.

One can only understand the optimism, energy, and camaraderie that is generated among the attendees by being part of these assemblies. There is a feeling among the people that they are forming part of that great movement, which is not only associated with the preservation and reintroduction of Greek national heritage into our lives, but also of heading towards a transformation of our society into one of cooperation and synergies.
